Find the Optimal Treatment for Symptoms of Menopause

GSM or genitourinary syndrome of menopause is experienced by 30-85% of menopausal women – this includes vaginal dryness, irritation and pain that can interfere with sexual intimacy. As well as occasional urinary leakage due to weakened pelvic floor. Most menopausal women remain sexually active and wish to preserve sexual intimacy in their life. The overall negative impact of GSM on sexual activity and overall quality of life is rarely discussed. Many women feel they must accept this declining sexual satisfaction as an inevitable part of aging.

It doesn’t have to be this way! There are many options to address and control the symptoms of GSM. This includes systemic or topical hormone therapy or other non-hormonal topicals. These remain the first-line interventions offered to many women and are effective, safe treatments. However, some women find that due to their hectic lifestyle they have difficulty remembering to take or apply their daily treatments, and the application of topicals can interrupt the spontaneity of intimacy. Laser vaginal treatments are rapidly growing in popularity for this reason – safe, effective, no daily adherence, and they don’t impact spontaneity.

Laser vaginal treatments are a scientifically proven option for women. Our Fotona laser, uses proprietary technology to deliver gentle and controlled laser energy to the vaginal and vulvar mucosa leading to improved blood supply and regeneration of the tissues. These laser therapies can be delivered in 3 modes: Intimalase, Incontilase and Renovalase, depending on the main symptoms and goals of each individual woman. We often combined laser therapy with our Emsella technology. Emsella uses HIFEM (high intensity focused electromagnetic) therapy to stimulate the pelvic floor giving the equivalent of 11,000 kegel contractions in a 28-minute session. This strengthens the pelvic floor muscles reducing embarrassing leakage.

Because GSM is a continuous process our management of the symptoms will also be continuous. Vaginal laser therapy initially involves 3, monthly sessions followed by biannual maintenance sessions. Emsella initially involves 6, biweekly sessions followed by biannual maintenance. Because these sessions are all under 45 minutes and do not require daily adherence, they are easy to fit into a hectic work/life schedule.

There are safe and effective options to manage the symptoms of GSM. Women no longer must accept declining intimacy as an inevitable part of aging. Our laser and HIFEM therapies empower women to take back control of their bodies and quality of life.
